Siemens Korea Selected as Supplier for Asia Cement Smart Factory Advancement Project
Published2016.06.22 06:11Siemens Korea’s Process Industries and Drives business unit has been selected as the supplier for the Phase 2 automation project of Asia Cement, the largest cement and ready-mix concrete manufacturer in Korea.
Siemens demonstrated its competitiveness in the industry by carrying out the first phase of Asia Cement's factory automation project in 2014 and being selected as a supplier for the second phase of the automation project as well.
For this project, Siemens will provide Asia Cement with the CEMAT solution, a Siemens process automation system package specialized for the cement industry. In addition, the company plans to expand the application of the MIS and newly implement a remote monitoring system capable of monitoring production processes from a distance.
Asia Cement plans to proceed with the Phase 3 upgrade project in the second half of this year, and Siemens will continue to play a partner role in making the Asia Cement plant an even smarter factory.

Siemens PLM Software Signs Industry-Academic Cooperation Agreement for Smart Factory Education and Training
Siemens PLM Software Korea announced that it has concluded an industry-academia cooperation agreement with design software company AUCOTEC and Daejeon University for smart factory education and training. This cooperation was established for the purpose of fostering specialized talent in smart factories, strengthening the smart factory education system, and promoting the development of the smart factory industry. The government is actively working to accelerate smart factory construction as part of its Manufacturing 3.0 strategy. According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, a total of 963 smart factories had been constructed by October 2015. The government plans to convert approximately 10,000 small and medium-sized manufacturing plants into smart factories by 2020. Additionally, the government is actively engaged in cultivating software specialists with expertise in design, engineering, and related fields needed in key sectors such as smart factories, in order to address youth unemployment and the shortage of specialized personnel in small and medium-sized enterprises.

The system detects event information in real-time and predicts traffic and communication quality to automatically calculate the quantity and location of base stations, reducing response planning time from the existing five days to 30 minutes. L&F, a specialist in secondary battery cathode materials, has been selected as a '2026 World-Class Achievement Excellence Company' and honored with a commendation from the Minister of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Energy. Over the past 10 years since 2014, the company has achieved 777% growth in sales, 786% growth in exports, and 1,019% growth in employment. Beginning in the third quarter of this year, it will commence full-scale mass production of LFP cathode materials at an annual capacity of 30,000 tons. Cloudflare has integrated the continuous detection engine 'Adaptive Intelligence' into its bot security platform. It analyzes over one trillion traffic requests daily across the global network in real-time to automatically generate detection rules that immediately respond to new threats.
