Amidst the growing demand for sovereign AI in Europe, a South Korean AI semiconductor company has partnered with a global data center operator to target the local AI infrastructure market. The strategy is to secure customers in the European market, where power and cooling constraints are significant, by introducing an inference-dedicated accelerator capable of air-cooled operation.

Furiosa AI announced on the 8th that it is partnering with global digital infrastructure company Equinix (NASDAQ: EQIX) to deploy RNGD (Renegade) inference servers at the Equinix LS2 data center in Lisbon, Portugal.

The server is scheduled to operate as an evaluation environment where European companies and Sovereign AI projects can directly verify large-scale language models and agentic AI based on actual workloads.

RNGD is an AI inference accelerator (NPU) for data centers based on the Tensor Compact Processor (TCP) architecture, developed in-house by Furiosa AI.

The company explained that it successfully entered mass production early this year, a rare feat for an HBM-based AI accelerator, and that it can reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) compared to GPUs.

Another feature is that it can be operated immediately in existing standard air-cooled data center environments without separate cooling infrastructure.

Engineers from the local subsidiary in Lisbon are responsible for technical support throughout the entire RNGD implementation process, including model operation, software application, and system configuration.

Furiosa AI established its Lisbon subsidiary early this year, and through this collaboration with Equinix, it is effectively launching a local customer support system in earnest.

Furiosa AI plans to participate in the RAISE Summit 2026, held in Paris, France this week, to continue discussions with European customers regarding the adoption of AI infrastructure.

CEO Baek Jun-ho will participate in a panel discussion alongside leaders of global AI infrastructure companies such as CoreWeave and Supermicro, while Chief Research Officer Kang Ji-hoon is scheduled to unveil the software stack technology and roadmap through a keynote speech.
