U+, Green Labs and Popular Smart Farm Service Unveiled

Smart farms are intelligent farms that utilize 4th industrial revolution technologies such as 5G, AI, and IoT, and are attracting attention as a technology that will enhance the competitiveness of domestic agriculture, which is facing a crisis due to population decline and aging. However, due to the high initial investment cost of tens of millions of won, distribution and expansion to farms are slow.

On the 28th, LG Uplus introduced a 'popular smart farm service' with lower initial introduction and maintenance costs in collaboration with data farming startup Green Labs.

The popular smart farm service released by both companies has lowered the initial investment cost from tens of millions of won to hundreds of thousands of won. By selecting sensor units essential for cultivation management, we minimized the installation equipment and reduced the overall construction cost by utilizing LTE and 5G, which do not require wired network installation.

The service consists of △remote control of farm environment, △weather information notification, △provision of data-based optimized information for each crop and season, and △online 1:1 mentoring with agricultural experts.

LG U+ is establishing the basic infrastructure of smart farms, including wireless network quality, network equipment management, optimized communication rates, and promotional design, while Green Labs is providing customized analysis of cultivated crops, notifications, and additional services using its own solution, ‘Farm Morning.’

The two companies plan to provide this popular smart farm service free of charge to the 'Sokcho City Eunggol Strawberry Farming Cooperative', which is registered as a social enterprise, to help rural areas that are suffering from the triple whammy of COVID-19, monsoon rains, and typhoons this year.

In addition, the two companies plan to continue consultations so that various ICT devices and services, such as intelligent CCTV and IoT access detection sensors, can be applied to smart farm services in the future.
