Collaboration on development of AI machine vision optimized for inspection field


On the 17th, Cognex Korea signed a business agreement (MOU) with CJ OliveNetworks for business cooperation in AI machine vision for food inspection.

The two companies will cooperate to vitalize their business by supplying high-performance vision equipment that can collect images and analyze data from vision systems installed in food manufacturing plants to replace inspection tasks that were previously performed by humans with the naked eye, such as defect inspection, product identification, and manufacturing date confirmation, and developing related services.

Cognex Korea is responsible for supplying and building vision equipment such as 2D/3D vision cameras and barcode-related equipment required for AI machine vision business for food inspection, while CJ OliveNetworks is responsible for developing and managing AI solution technologies such as image data analysis and AI modeling, as well as jointly developing business inventory.

Over the next three years, the two companies will build an AI machine vision system for food inspection utilizing online and offline distribution channels at home and abroad, and focus on providing necessary technical support and expanding sales through collaboration between related departments.

Cognex Korea CEO Moon Eung-jin said, “Cognex introduced deep learning to machine vision to solve difficult inspections that cannot be solved with existing inspection rule-based methods.“We are continuing our R&D efforts to automate inspection in various industrial fields,” he said.

He also said, “Through this MOU with CJ OliveNetworks, we will devote ourselves to developing machine vision technology and products to spread and distribute AI machine vision optimized for the domestic food inspection field.”
