MOU between 25 public organizations of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport
Utilizing real estate, IoT, space, train, and track data
Building a platform to activate the land, infrastructure and transportation data ecosystem

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 12th that it had signed a business agreement to strengthen cooperation among the 25 participating organizations of the 'Land, Infrastructure and Transport Public Institutions Council' launched on June 10th.

Through the agreement ceremony, the participating organizations agreed to cooperate in establishing an environment for the creation of a land, infrastructure, and transportation data industry ecosystem, such as sharing various data in the land, infrastructure, and transportation sector and promoting joint research projects. This made it possible to establish a new technology development environment, such as heterogeneous data combination and real-time data collection, through linking and utilizing data held by each organization.

In particular, it is expected that there will be results from the R&D (22-25 years) of data collection, combination, and management technology for the 'Land Transport Data Industry Ecosystem Activation Platform Construction Project' that has been jointly promoted with the Korea Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement since last year.

Data in the land, infrastructure and transport sector has great industrial utility. In particular, real estate transaction data, IoT-based city data, spatial information, train operation information, and radar track data can play an important role in realizing digital twins, which is a key task of the Korean New Deal.

Through this agreement, the council plans to resolve difficulties arising from complex procedures and lack of technology in the process of collecting and processing data, and to establish a utilization system by creating an environment in which anyone can produce, distribute, and utilize data in the mid- to long-term.

Kim Yong-ok, director of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s Information and Statistics Office, said, “In order to activate the ecosystem that produces, distributes, and processes land, infrastructure and transport data, we will actively pursue policy efforts centered around the ‘Land, Infrastructure and Transport Public Agencies Council.’” He added, “In the second half of the year, we will form a council between private companies and public agencies to strengthen communication and cooperation with the private sector.”
