Held at EMK 2022… Policy sharing and strategic response plan discussion
Director Park Han-gu, “Establishing a digital economic system centered on small and medium-sized enterprises”
A forum has been set up to discuss next-generation smart factory strategies and hold policy forums and panel discussions.
On the 14th, the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Forum was held in Seminar Room 1 of the '2022 Korea Electronics Manufacturing Industry Show and Automotive Wall Korea (EMK 2022),' the largest electronics and manufacturing exhibition in Korea, held at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul.
This event was held to share policy agendas related to the cloud, which are attracting attention for the introduction of smart factories as AI utilization in the manufacturing industry is becoming more active, and to discuss strategic response measures for the future.
In his opening remarks, Kang Cheol-gyu, chairman of the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Association, said that in Korea, one of the world's top five manufacturing powerhouses, data-related experts are needed to keep up with the latest trends in which AI is becoming more active and cloud computing is receiving a lot of attention.
Park Han-gu, head of the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Team, gave a presentation on the topic of ‘Cloud-based Smart Factory Advancement Strategy.’
Director Park Han-goo discussed response measures after achieving 30,000 smart factories and said that small and medium-sized companies should think about ways to improve the quality of life of the people.
In particular, small and medium-sized enterprises have proposed a digital cluster business as a solution to the problem of productivity and sales not being connected due to the presence of multiple tiers of parts suppliers.all.
Director Park said that the goal is to develop and supply One Package SaaS solutions that meet international standards for each cluster segmented by industry to provide economic value with a common solution.
He also said that by supporting cloud computing utilization such as KAMP, it is possible to achieve economic efficiency, security, and carbon neutrality by transferring from one's own computer room to the cloud.
Next, Technology Partner Myung-gu Kang gave a more specific presentation on the topic of ‘Manufacturing Company Advancement and Cloud Platform’, and on cloud requirements and AWS response.
Kang Myeong-gu, technology partner, said that it is important to build a Korean-style manufacturing cloud platform through a mature cloud.
Kang Partner said that smart factory advancement is ultimately a digital transformation of manufacturing, and digital transformation is about innovating business by creating new insights and value based on data analysis machine learning.
To this end, data technology is key, and machine learning-based demand forecasting data is collected to increase forecast accuracy, he said.
The cloud is a marketplace for technology, where technologies such as IoT, machine learning, and blockchain are commercialized and provided as a platform, allowing people to focus on application areas other than these basic technologies, thereby achieving high efficiency.

General discussion following the presentation And a question and answer session was held.
The moderator was Director Na Do-seong (Small and Medium Business Policy Development Institute), and the panelists included Director Kang Sang-gi (Hanyang University AI Solution Center), Vice President Kang Hyo-heon (Acloud), and Dr. Kim In-sook (Science and Technology Policy Institute).
Dr. Kim In-sook questioned the role of Amazon and the government in an environment where technology can only be supplied using the Amazon cloud.
Director Kang Sang-ki acknowledged the shortcomings and limitations of the cloud-based platform from the perspective of demand companies and asked how they would improve it.
Vice President Kang Hyo-hyun asked about the independence of the company, security, and customization, and saw the need to meet the needs of customized, individual development environments.
Partner Kang Myung-gu said that AWS has a competitive edge in terms of the number of technologies and that he viewed the cloud as a component. He said that because technology is evolving, there is only a technological gap at the current point in time and that Amazon will not monopolize it.
Customization will be a competitive advantage for companies and could even dominate the cloud, he said, emphasizing that the cloud is efficient because it already has many technologies and continues to add more.
During the Q&A session with the audience, discussions were held with small and medium-sized manufacturers attending the forum about realistic cloud adoption issues.
