Optimizing energy use by combining digitalization and IoT-based solutions
“Schneider Electric is actively responding to the climate crisis by reducing carbon emissions generated during the production, transmission, and consumption of energy, with energy transition, electrification, and efficiency as its core strategies.”
On the 15th, Kwon Ji-woong, CEO of Schneider Electric Korea, held a press conference under the theme of ‘50 Years of Journey, Future, and Innovation’ and introduced the significance of Schneider Electric Korea’s 50th anniversary and its major achievements to date.
CEO Kwon Ji-woong said that Schneider Electric, which started in the Lorraine region of France in 1836, has been in Korea for 50 years and that during that time, the company has worked to advance the Korean electrical industry and digitalize related technologies.
He continued, “Climate change response, which is now emerging as a major global issue, is becoming a key issue as energy usage methods that reduce carbon emissions are emerging as key issues,” and announced that as a leading company in the global energy management and automation field, it will provide sustainable energy solutions in line with these changes.
CEO Kwon Ji-woong said that most carbon emissions currently occur during the production, transmission, and consumption of energy, and Schneider Electric is working to solve this problem by He mentioned that conversion, electrification and efficiency are the core strategies.
First, the energy transition is to move away from the existing fossil fuel-based power generation method by introducing renewable energy and eco-friendly energy. To this end, companies are actively purchasing new and renewable energy through the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) method or building their own power grids based on solar power and hydrogen.
Electrification refers to maximizing the use of electricity in the production and consumption processes, and promoting the transition to electricity in all industries and daily life. For example, in the automobile industry, the transition is taking place from internal combustion engine vehicles to electric vehicles, and in the manufacturing industry, the method of utilizing electricity instead of various energy sources is increasing.
Regarding increasing efficiency through digitalization, it was reported that the goal is to combine digital technology and AI (artificial intelligence) to optimize energy use, precisely adjust energy consumption through real-time data analysis, and reduce unnecessary waste.
Schneider Electric CEO Kwon Ji-woong said that Schneider Electric supplies various energy management products for carbon reduction, and in particular, it is optimizing energy use by combining digitalization and IoT-based solutions.
Regarding EcoStruxure, it was introduced as an IoT-based energy management platform that provides real-time monitoring and optimization functions to help companies reduce energy costs and maximize efficiency.
Regarding power management solutions, the company said it supplies power management products used in various industrial sites such as data centers, factories, and buildings, thereby supporting power consumption optimization and increased operational efficiency.
In terms of energy efficiency products, we provide energy through products such as motor control devices, UPS (uninterruptible power supply), and smart meters. It was mentioned that it reduces energy waste and increases reliability.
CEO Kwon Ji-woong said, “Schneider Electric is building strategic partnerships for carbon neutrality by working with various industries. With the advent of the AI era and the increase in demand for data centers, energy consumption is accelerating further. Schneider is actively leading the response to climate change by developing eco-friendly cooling technology, smart power systems, and sustainable infrastructure solutions.” He added, “The next 10 years will be an era in which carbon reduction and energy innovation are essential. “To achieve a sustainable future, companies must be more proactive in changing the way they use energy, and solutions provided by global technology companies such as Schneider Electric will be key to that change,” he said.
In the second session that followed, Team Leader Song In-kwon of Schneider Electric Korea introduced the direction of innovation in electrified and digitalized manufacturing processes under the theme of ‘Smart Power Solutions Opening a Sustainable Energy Future.’
Team Leader Song In-kwon shared specific examples of how smart power solutions are contributing to manufacturing innovation through Schneider Electric’s lighthouse factory case, and emphasized that the manufacturing industry can actively respond to carbon neutrality and ESG management demands through elements of power usage optimization, convergence of automation and digitalization, and innovation centered on sustainability.

Meanwhile, Schneider Electric Korea is participating in the 'International Electric Power Technology Show 2025 (EPTK 2025),' a representative electric power exhibition in Korea, held at COEX in Seoul from May 14, and is showcasing various electric power infrastructure solutions.
Under the core message of ‘Electrification makes Energy Green!’, this exhibition will present a demo zone consisting of ‘3S solutions’ to promote sustainability, smart power supply, and smart energy. Representative technologies and solutions in each management (Smart Management) field were introduced.
In addition, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Korean branch, a History Wall was created to provide a glimpse into the developments and achievements over the years, and to share Schneider Electric Korea's sustainable technological innovation journey and future vision.
