3D Measurement Automation and Software Innovation for Digital Transformation
Creaform, a 3D measurement solution specialist, held the 'Creaform Innovation Forum 2025' at Yangjae L Tower in Seoul on June 19. Under the theme of 'Innovation Takes Form', this forum focused on automation technology and software solutions for digital transformation in industrial sites.
The forum began with a welcoming speech by Kim Gun-ah, CEO of Amitech Korea. He said, “This year’s Innovation Forum was a place to look at the evolution of 3D scanning automation and digital inspection platforms,” and “It was a place to intensively show the direction of automation and digitalization of 3D measurement technology beyond hardware.”
Next, Jaejun Choi, AQC Deputy Manager of Creaform, took the stage as a presenter and introduced quality management automation and design optimization technology based on the company's Metrology Suite. Key announcements included recently updated software technologies including 'Scan-to-CAD Pro', 'Sheet Metal Add-on', and 'Virtek-based Laser Projection', highlighting measurement speeds up to five times faster than before and CAD comparison accuracy.
In the industry-academia collaboration presentation session, Professor Park Young-do of Dong-eui University presented AI-based welding defect analysis and digital quality management strategies, and Professor Woo Hyuk-je of Gyeonggi University of Science and Technology presented the industrial applicability of 3D scanning and reverse engineering technologies.
Presentations of field application cases followed. Ajin Industries Manager Choi Jae-min shared the case of utilizing the automated scan system 'CUBE-R' that meets the quality standards of Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors, and ISSOFT Manager Choi Yoon-seong shared his experience in building an automated measurement system based on VX Scan-R and Metrolog X4.
In the afternoon session, CEO of Freebus, Yoo Byung-hak, introduced a practical development process using Scan-to-CAD Pro. The solution automates the process of converting 3D scan data into CAD, dramatically shortening the product development cycle.
In addition to a software experience booth, the on-site event also included a real-time 3D scanner demonstration and a Q&A session with technology experts, strengthening participants' hands-on learning experience.
Meanwhile, Creaform is a global 3D measurement solutions company operating in over 85 countries. Its headquarters are located in Quebec, Canada, and it conducts precision measurement business with annual sales of 7 billion dollars under AMETEK Inc. The company is realizing digital manufacturing innovation in the automotive, aerospace, and heavy industry sectors, and this forum has added meaning as a place to share these technologies with domestic customers and seek collaboration.
This event is a representative technology forum held by Creaform for four consecutive years, and has become a place to confirm the possibility of a dual strategy of 3D measurement automation and software integration, reflecting the speed of digital transformation in the industry.
