“We will continue to support the strengthening of the competitiveness of the shipbuilding and marine industries through integrated technologies.”

Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, a global leader in sensor, software, and automation technologies, participated in the '2025 Shipbuilding & Marine and Equipment Industry DX Activation Forum' held at the Paradise Hotel in Busan on June 27 and presented integrated digital transformation cases in the equipment design and manufacturing sector.

This forum, sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology and co-hosted by major organizations related to shipbuilding and marine equipment, was established as a venue for cooperation among industry, academia and research institutes to promote technological advancement and digital transformation in the shipbuilding industry.

At the event, Hong Seok-kwan, President of Hexagon Metrology Business Unit, presented digital integration technology and real-world application cases that connect design, measurement, analysis, and production under the theme of ‘Introduction of Technology for Efficient Equipment Product Design.’

He uses Hexagon's high-precision mobile measuring equipment, the 'Leica Absolute Tracker ATS800', to capture 3D shape data even in outdoor environments. We introduced a process to precisely secure the data and digitalize reverse engineering and quality management based on it.

President Hong also shared a case study of applying CAE analysis using parametric data and offline programming technology for robotic welding automation, emphasizing the advantages of digital solutions that maximize not only design but also production efficiency.

He said, “A digital approach that organically links design, measurement, and analysis is essential to simultaneously satisfy precise design requirements and complex manufacturing environments,” and added that Hexagon will continue to support enhancing the competitiveness of the shipbuilding and marine industries through integrated technologies.
