European Power aims to establish 13 AI factories and 5 gigafactories
Schneider Electric, a global energy management and automation specialist, is expected to set a new standard for next-generation data center infrastructure by joining hands with NVIDIA to build a next-generation AI factory.
Schneider recently announced that it is accelerating the development of infrastructure for building next-generation large-scale AI factories through a strategic collaboration with NVIDIA, a leader in AI technology.
In order to respond to the European Union's (EU) 'AI Continental Action Plan' and 'Invest AI Initiative', the two companies will actively pursue joint research and development (R&D) centered on core elements of AI data centers, such as power, cooling, control systems, and high-density rack infrastructure.
The goal is to establish at least 13 AI factories and up to five gigafactories across Europe.
Schneider Electric CEO Olivier Blum emphasized the significance of the partnership, saying, “Sustainable data center solutions based on liquid cooling optimized for AI workloads will redefine global standards.”
Regarding this, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said, “AI is a technology that will transform industries and society,” and “We are jointly building the foundation for AI to become a reality.”
Through this collaboration, Schneider Electric is introducing its EcoStruxure™ Pod modular micro data center solution along with a new OCP-based rack system supporting NVIDIA’s GB200 NVL72 platform to address rapid scalability and high-density computing demands.
In particular, the two companies have implemented a digital twin of a power system for AI factories using NVIDIA Omniverse Blueprints for the first time in the world, and are realizing the optimization of electrical infrastructure with a simulation solution jointly developed with ETAP.
Schneider Electric recently strengthened its cooling technology foundation with the acquisition of Motivair, and is also expanding its collaboration in the area of liquid cooling reference designs as an official NVIDIA CDU partner.
