Siemens Digital Industries Software Drives CAD Innovation with AI Copilot and Immersive Design

Siemens announced on the 14th the latest updates to its product engineering software, NX™ and NX™ X, heralding an innovative change in its CAD solutions.

This update includes a number of designer-centric features, including AI-based design assistance, immersive design and collaboration capabilities, and CAD-integrated thermal and fluid simulation tools, which are expected to dramatically improve the efficiency and accuracy of the entire product development process.

The most notable feature is ‘Design Copilot NX’, which features a natural language-based interface.

This feature shortens the learning curve for both beginners and experts by providing AI-powered real-time responses to designers’ questions and providing technical documentation, best practices, usage tips, and more.

It is characterized by increasing work speed and accuracy by operating based on Siemens' extensive learning resources.

Building on its partnership with Sony announced at CES 2024, Siemens has incorporated mixed reality (MR)-based immersive product design capabilities into its NX update.

With 'NX Immersive Designer' and 'NX Immersive Collaborator', designers can: You can create 3D models in virtual reality and collaborate in real time with partners.

Collaboration is possible right from the NX interface without complex presets, and product review, measurement, and annotation tasks are also easily supported.

NX Inspector adds model-based design (MBD) characteristics to digital twins, supporting quality control in downstream manufacturing processes.

By linking manufacturing PMI information with the Teamcenter system, it automates inspection and measurement processes and helps improve designers' work efficiency.

The 'DFM Advisor' introduced together analyzes manufacturability in the early design stage, diagnoses the possibility of problems in advance, and provides immediately actionable feedback.

Additionally, NX Mold Wizard optimizes product quality by enhancing intelligent standard parts and cooling channel simulation capabilities that automatically update when configurations change.

‘NX CFD Designer’ with Simcenter FLOEFD technology enables thermal and fluid flow simulations to be performed directly within the CAD environment, naturally connecting the designer’s workflow.

Complex meshing and scenario analysis are also quickly processed with automated functions, and the latest 'Performance Predictor' analyzes the mechanical stress of the entire assembly to verify the structural stability of the product.

Frost & Sullivan has named NX a leading innovator in MCAD by 2025.
