Samsung Electronics is supplying high-efficiency heat pumps and building management solutions to a large-scale residential complex in Poland. This is an example of a B2B HVAC business that goes beyond the supply of heating and cooling equipment to provide integrated management of energy usage and facility operations for the entire complex.

Samsung Electronics announced that it will supply its 'DVM S2' heat pump outdoor unit, 'DVM Hydro Unit' indoor unit, and B2B solution 'SmartThings Pro' to a multi-family housing complex development project being pursued by the Polish energy company Ekopark. The complex will be built on a site of approximately 250,000 pyeong across four cities, including Białystok, Przewořesk, Nakłó, and Bielsk-Podlaski, comprising 370 buildings.

The DVM S2 is a large-capacity heat pump outdoor unit with enhanced AI capabilities. Through its 'Active AI' function, it learns the real-time environment and regulates energy usage. The indoor unit, the DVM Hydro Unit, is connected to the DVM S2 and supplies hot water and heating up to 80°C.

Samsung Electronics explained that the product utilizes refrigerants to supply hot water, which can reduce carbon dioxide emissions compared to fossil fuel-based boilers. The company added that because it operates on electricity, it can also contribute to alleviating the burden of energy costs for users.

SmartThings Pro is applied to the operation of the complex. Residential complexes distributed across four different cities can be managed in an integrated manner via the Internet, and a Device Management Solution (DMS) controlling heat pumps and heating and hot water facilities is introduced in each complex. Managers can check energy usage and facility status for each building on an integrated dashboard.

"We will strengthen our B2B competitiveness by further advancing Samsung Electronics' unique differentiated heat pump technology and integrated management system," said Lim Sung-taek, Vice President of Samsung Electronics' DA Business Division. Samsung Electronics previously announced that it would supply heat pump HVAC solutions and SmartThings Pro to a residential complex redevelopment project in Cornwall, UK, thereby expanding the application of integrated energy management solutions in the European residential market.
