Oh Byung-joon, Country Manager of Siemens Digital Industries Software Korea, is delivering the opening remarks at the '2026 Simcenter Technology Conference (STC)'.

Changes in Simulation Speed and Design Methods Strengthen Manufacturing Competitiveness
Integration with 'Physical AI' increases simulation result production efficiency

Siemens Digital Industries Software presented a direction for manufacturing innovation through its 'Physics AI' strategy, which combines physics-based simulation with artificial intelligence (AI). The explanation is that the trend of connecting data and accelerating simulations throughout the entire process, from product design to production and operation, is driving changes in the industrial environment.

Siemens Digital Industries Software held the 2026 Simcenter Technology Conference (STC) on the 21st and unveiled its industrial AI and digital twin strategies.

In his opening remarks on this day, Korea Country Manager Oh Byung-joon emphasized the direction of manufacturing innovation through the combination of simulation technology and AI, marking the first anniversary of the integration following the acquisition of Altair.

Branch Manager Oh Byung-jun presented a structure to strengthen manufacturing competitiveness through Physics AI, which combines physics-based simulation and AI.

It is a method that accelerates analysis speed by utilizing existing accumulated physical data and simulation results, and enables result prediction from the design stage.

Branch Manager Oh Byung-jun stated that as simulation technology advances, the product development process is shifting from a focus on physical testing to virtual environments, emphasizing that building a 'comprehensive digital twin' that connects all product, production, and operation stages is key.

It was also mentioned that an environment where data can be utilized seamlessly is becoming important through the concept of a 'digital thread,' which extends design data to the production and operation stages.

Physics AI is a technology that can bring about changes in the areas of simulation speed improvement and design automation.

Through AI analysis utilizing physics-based data, a higher level of computational efficiency compared to existing methods can be achieved.

In particular, a flow leading from simulation results to the generation of design shapes is emerging, which is a factor that shortens product development speed..

These changes can affect manufacturing companies in accelerating their market response speed and securing competitiveness in terms of quality and cost.

Branch Manager Oh Byung-jun emphasized the connection between Physics AI and 'Physical AI' applied to manufacturing sites.

He said that production efficiency can be increased through a structure where simulation results are reflected in actual robots and process operations.

In addition, a method was presented to verify the actual operating environment in advance by combining robot systems and process simulations used in factories and logistics sites.

They explained that this structure, in which analysis results generated in a virtual environment lead to the operation of a real-world system, can be utilized for manufacturing process optimization.

Branch Manager Oh Byung-jun emphasized the importance of an open collaboration structure along with the expansion of Physics AI utilization.

It is judged that there are limitations to driving innovation solely through internal corporate capabilities in a rapidly changing technological environment.

Branch Manager Oh Byung-jun mentioned the need for 'open partnerships' to accelerate the pace of innovation through collaboration with various technology companies, stating that the very method of technology adoption is changing in the AI era.

He added that, in particular, an environment where field practitioners can access and experiment with various technologies, and a structure that links this to organizational strategy, are becoming increasingly important.
