Testo Korea announced on the 8th that it has appointed Kim Won-seok as its new CEO. CEO Kim has held sales and management positions at the German industrial automation company Festo Korea and the industrial materials supplier Würth Industries Korea.

After earning his bachelor's and master's degrees in Chemical Engineering from Kyungpook National University, CEO Kim built a career in manufacturing industries including semiconductors, displays, solar power, and smart factories. He gained experience in production processes and overseas sales while working at MEMC Korea, Corning Korea, KC Tech, and Kyungdong Solar, and subsequently led the Electronics & Lightweight Assembly business unit and the Asia-Pacific regional organization at Festo Korea.

Subsequently, he served as the CEO of Würth Industries Korea, overseeing overall business operations. The company explained that CEO Kim possesses experience in securing large-scale projects for manufacturing companies and managing organizations.

This personnel reshuffle aligns with market changes in which the importance of measurement data is growing in industrial settings. Driven by the spread of smart factories and industrial digitalization, the manufacturing industry is utilizing various measurement data—such as temperature, pressure, humidity, and energy management—as key elements for productivity and quality control.

The Testo Group, headquartered in Germany, is a supplier of portable and stationary measurement solutions with 37 subsidiaries and approximately 3,500 employees worldwide. Recently, it has been expanding its monitoring solution business not only for industrial facilities but also for data centers, food safety, and the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.

In Korea as well, Testo Korea has been expanding its supply of food safety measurement equipment and industrial environmental monitoring systems, and has broadened its business scope by signing an official agency agreement last year to expand distribution in the institutional food service market.

Following his inauguration, CEO Kim is expected to focus on expanding contact points with industrial customers and strengthening business competitiveness in the domestic measuring instrument market, leveraging his experience in manufacturing sites and his capabilities in managing sales organizations. The industrial sector anticipates that the role of measurement solution companies will become increasingly significant as manufacturing process automation and data-driven operations become more widespread.
