On the 12th (local time), 'Newsweek' held the '2022 World's Greatest Auto Disruptors' awards ceremony at the World Trade Center in New York, USA, and announced Chairman Chung Eui-sun as the 'Visionary of the Year' winner.
It is evaluated that attention has been paid to Chairman Chung's innovation, which is redefining the mobility sector to enable free movement and connectivity for humanity by going beyond the framework of the automobile industry and transforming the Hyundai Motor Group into a 'smart mobility solutions company'.
Newsweek first announced 'America's 50 Greatest Disruptors' late last year, and this year, it selected 'The World's Greatest Disruptors in the Automotive Industry' in six categories for people and organizations that have promoted groundbreaking and creative changes for humanity in the automobile industry, and Hyundai Motor GroupIt won three awards.
Among them, the 'Visionary of the Year' award is given to an industry leader who will have a significant impact on the future of the automobile industry for the next 30 years or more, and Chairman Chung Eui-sun was named the first recipient. Newsweek published a special issue on disruptive innovators, and covered Chairman Chung's innovative steps as a cover story.
Newsweek stated the reason for the selection, saying, “Chairman Chung Eui-sun has made a significant contribution to the growth of Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors in the automobile industry, and under his leadership and bold vision for the future, Hyundai Motor Group is redefining the possibilities of mobility and providing ‘freedom of movement’ to humanity.”
Hyundai Motor Group's Architecture Development Center and Electrification Development Team also won awards in the 'R&D Team of the Year' and 'Powertrain Evolution of the Year' categories, respectively.
