2022 Smart City Innovation Technology Project Selection
Real-time identification of hazardous materials in Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City
Darisoft helps build autonomous driving infrastructure with AI-based real-time road risk information system.
Darisoft announced on the 18th that it has been selected for the Smart City Innovation Technology Exploration Project hosted by Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and will invest a total project cost of 1.578 billion won to build a real-time road risk information system based on artificial intelligence (AI).
The Smart City Innovation Technology Discovery Project is a project in which companies and local governments with innovative technologies form a consortium to solve urban problems through the technology and thereby improve the quality of life of residents.
The AI-based road hazard information service is implemented by installing AI road analysis devices that detect road hazards in real time on public transportation and official vehicles in Nam-gu, Gwangju, and transmitting various information, such as images and location information of road hazards, to the linked system server within the district office and providing this as a control platform.
This project is expected to greatly contribute to reducing public complaints through preemptive handling of hazardous materials on the road, reducing social costs such as traffic accidents and vehicle damage, and building the infrastructure necessary for autonomous driving.
Darisosoft is developing an AI model for Korea Expressway Corporation’s advanced high-density (AHD) traffic control on highways. We have carried out pilot projects for the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation's digital twin pilot content project, and pilot operation of services for building road risk data in Anyang and Changwon, and are also collaborating with automobile OEMs, map and navigation companies, and insurance companies.
Jeong Man-sik, CEO of Darisosoft, said, “The total length of roads in the world is 64 million km, and domestic roads account for only 0.17%. Smart road management to prevent accidents and reduce road maintenance costs is a global trend,” and “Through the successful execution of the smart city innovation technology discovery project, we will lay the foundation for not only expanding our domestic business but also advancing overseas.”
Meanwhile, Darisoft was founded in 2020 and started its early startup package business, and was selected for the TIPS of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the R&D Rediscovery Project of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, etc., and attracted 1.2 billion won in pre-series A investment from Korea Science and Technology Holdings, DK Investment Partners, and CNT Tech.
