Seven global automakers, including Mercedes-Benz, Tesla, and BMW, are recalling their vehicles due to manufacturing defects, including software problems.

Mercedes-Benz Korea Co., Ltd. is voluntarily taking corrective action as it has confirmed that 7,598 units of 8 models, including the S580 4MATIC, imported and sold have a software error in the rear SAM (Signal Acquisition and actuation Module) that prevents the device from initializing properly when the vehicle is started, causing the turn signals, hazard warning lights, and reverse lights to not work properly, which could potentially cause accidents.
The rear electrical signal control unit is a device that receives and transmits data from rear sensors, switches, and control devices to operate components and monitor the system.
The vehicle in question can be repaired (software updated) free of charge at official Mercedes-Benz Korea service centers starting May 13.
1,789 units (including before sale) of two models, including the Sienna Hybrid 2WD, imported and sold by Korea Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., were found to be noncompliant with safety standards due to a software error in the brake operation control device, which caused the vehicle stability control device to not operate properly. Therefore, the importer voluntarily took corrective action (recall) first.) and plans to impose fines in the future by taking into account the correction rate, etc.

Tesla Korea Ltd. has confirmed that 1,254 Model 3 units (including those prior to sale) imported and sold do not meet safety standards due to a software error in the touchscreen control unit that prevents the vehicle speed unit from being displayed on the screen in certain situations (when using track mode). The importer will first voluntarily take corrective action (recall) and later impose a fine after considering the correction rate, etc.
The vehicle in question will be automatically updated remotely with improved software starting May 13.
Stellantis Korea Co., Ltd. is voluntarily taking corrective action (recall) to 814 Jeep Grand Cherokees imported and sold due to a software error in the engine control unit that prevents the engine RPM, etc. from being properly transmitted to the engine control unit, which may cause the vehicle to stall while driving.
The vehicle in question can be repaired (software updated) free of charge at official Stellantis Korea service centers starting May 6.
BMW Korea Co., Ltd. is voluntarily recalling 328 units of 4 models (including those prior to sale) including the iX xDrive40, due to a software error in the airbag control unit that does not illuminate warning lights even when the airbag or pedestrian protection device malfunctions, which may result in injuries to drivers and others in the event of an accident.
The vehicle in question has been undergoing free repairs (software updates) at official BMW Korea service centers since May 4.
151 Bentley Bentayga V8s imported and sold by Volkswagen Group Korea Co., Ltd. (including those prior to sale) were found to be noncompliant with safety standards, as the rear seat rail stop device was not installed. The importer voluntarily took corrective action.We plan to proceed with the project and impose fines in consideration of the correction rate, etc. in the future.

Bike Korea Co., Ltd. is voluntarily taking corrective action (recall) to address the issue of insufficient durability of the rear brake disc fixing bolt anti-loosening agent in 24 units of two motorcycle models, including the Triumph Speed Triple 1200RS (including those sold prior to sale), which may result in the disc not being properly fixed and braking failure with continued use.
