Say hello to the virtual human 'Raea', store the clothes you were wearing in the styler, and watch the movie you want on the screen. This happens in the car, not at home.

LG Electronics showcased the future of mobility by exhibiting its 2030 autonomous electric vehicle concept, the 'LG Omnipod', at the NextRise 2022 event held at COEX.

As it is a concept car that is a fully autonomous vehicle, it is characterized by the absence of a driver's seat, and the interior of the vehicle is a space of about 3 pyeong (approximately 10.3 square meters) and is filled with home appliances, which are LG Electronics' strengths.

An LG Electronics official said that the concept car was created after seeing the possibility that cars could be used as private spaces for work, exercise, and leisure time rather than just being parked and left unattended.

LG Omnipod is a concept model of a future autonomous vehicle that interprets the vehicle as a new extension of the home. Depending on the user's needs, it can be used as an office space for work, or as a personal space for enjoying various entertainment such as watching movies, exercising, and camping.

It also provides a new mobility experience by applying the Metaverse concept, which allows users to enjoy actual shopping in their vehicles.

When you get in the car, a virtual human named 'Raa' welcomes you. Ask Raa what drinks are in the car and tell her what you want, and the car's refrigerator will automatically open.

If you say you want to use the styler, a styler hidden in the back of the vehicle will pop up, and a shoe care device will come out from under the seat.

You can watch your favorite movies on the screens surrounding the vehicle and on the screen in front, and when you say you want to sleep, the seat automatically reclines and your sleep patterns are automatically checked.

Omnipods can be manufactured and decorated with various themes, such as camping, to suit the tastes of the younger generation who are more accustomed to renting rather than purchasing vehicles, and LG Electronics' cleaning robot cleans the interior of the vehicle when it is returned.

Meanwhile, LG is not a finished vehicle company, but it is responsible for the core of future mobility technology.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is equipped with LG Electronics' refrigerator module, and the company also collaborated with Hyundai on the Ioniq 7 concept car.

LG Innotek also develops sensors, which are an important part of autonomous driving technology.

In addition, LG Magna provides powertrains, LG Energy Solution provides batteries, LG Electronics provides various applications, and U+ provides communication networks.

An LG official said, “We are constantly thinking about what we can do when the era of autonomous driving arrives,” and “We will try various things because we think there are many correct answers.”

LG Electronics Design Management Center Director Lee Cheol-bae said, “LG Electronics is presenting the vision of a ‘future autonomous vehicle smart cabin’ that expands home space by fusing home appliances, displays, and electric field technologies, where it has strengths, through Omnipod.”
