Automotive ISC to hold first operating committee in 2025
A forum was set up to discuss establishing a systematic future car workforce training foundation to supply manpower centered on the on-site demand of the automobile industry.
The Automotive Industry Human Resources Development Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Automotive ISC) held its first operating committee meeting of 2025 on the 16th.
This meeting was held to discuss ways to maintain employment and support education in the automotive parts industry and maintenance/inspection sectors, with the goal of supplying future vehicle experts centered on on-site demand.
The steering committee was hosted by the Korea Automobile Research Institute (KARI), and about 40 people from the government, business, and academia attended. At the meeting, the business performance for 2024 was shared and the human resources training plan for 2025 was announced.
Key achievements in 2024 include: △Survey of human resource demand in the automobile parts industry and future vehicle new industry △Establishment of job standards and monitoring of job changes △Implementation of job map and pilot training to resolve the shortage of future vehicle SW human resources, and in particular, organizing four standard job concepts and required competencies to resolve the SW human resource shortage issue, and providing guidelines for companies and educational institutions.
This year, projects such as a survey on future car workforce demand, introduction of foreign workers in the automobile parts manufacturing industry, and specialized training in response to the electric vehicle maintenance industry will be promoted.
In addition, we plan to continuously promote a pilot project for foreign visas (E7-3) to resolve the shortage of production personnel in small and medium-sized auto parts companies, and support companies to smoothly secure the necessary personnel through the use of foreign exchange students and skill verification.
Through this steering committee, the Automobile ISC is expected to effectively train SW and manufacturing personnel most needed in industrial sites and play a role in immediately resolving companies' manpower securing issues.
Jin Jong-wook, chairman of the Automobile ISC, emphasized, “It is important to continuously support the training, maintenance, and transition of human resources needed in the automobile industry,” and “We will establish a human resources training plan that can provide practical assistance to companies and prepare realistic measures such as the introduction of foreign workers.”
