Applied Intuition Launches White Box Autonomous Driving System to Understand Why Autonomous Vehicles Move the Way They Do

Scalable from L2++ to L4, directly verified by the manufacturer for safety and performance

Applied Intuition, a global leader in vehicle intelligence, is moving forward to provide manufacturers with the flexibility and scalability they demand through its white-box autonomous driving system.

Applied Intuition recently announced the official launch of its end-to-end autonomous driving stack solution based on advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that supports Level 2++ (L2++) autonomous driving.

The solution is designed to enable automakers to easily scale to L3 and L4, while simultaneously satisfying safety and economics.

The recently unveiled autonomous driving system (SDS) for vehicles provides perception, planning, and control functions in a single integrated platform, and adopts a white-box architecture that overcomes the limitations of the existing black-box method.

This allows manufacturers to transparently verify the internal workings of their systems and seamlessly integrate them into their brand's user experience.

A white-box autonomous driving system is a system that allows automobile manufacturers to directly view, modify, and verify the internal algorithms, data flow, and judgment criteria of autonomous driving software, all of which are open and understandable in software development.

In the case of existing autonomous driving, there is an AI driving the car, but if you feel like you don't know why it drove that way, the white box method shows the entire process, including what sensor data the AI saw and what decisions it made. It is adjustable.

“Automakers are focused on developing safer, more intelligent vehicles,” said Qasar Younis, co-founder and CEO of Applied Intuition. “This solution will help lead the evolution of autonomous driving technology and provide manufacturers with a competitive edge.”

The system supports compatibility with various sensors, ECUs, and computing platforms, and enables easy integration based on vehicle OS.

It also includes a development and validation toolchain that provides continuous upgrades even after launch, allowing for flexible response to long-term technological evolution.

“Building on technology proven in extreme environments like trucks, mining equipment, and the defense industry over the past decade, this system was designed with safe commercialization in mind,” said Peter Ludwig, co-founder and CTO. “It combines the flexibility and transparency that manufacturers demand to accelerate autonomous driving innovation.”
