Supports functional safety compliance and shortened development time with an integrated environment based on DRIVECORE™
IAR Korea, together with Infineon, Vector, and Qt Group, presented a plan for collaboration on an integrated development ecosystem to streamline automotive embedded software development. The four companies focused on reducing the burden of integration and verification in the automotive software development process by linking embedded development toolchains, AUTOSAR middleware, and HMI frameworks to an Infineon DRIVECORE™-based environment.

On the 16th, IAR Korea held a webinar jointly with Infineon Technologies, Vector, and Qt Group under the theme of "Accelerating Automotive Development through the Integrated Infineon Ecosystem" and unveiled the direction of such development cooperation.

Development complexity in the automotive industry is rapidly increasing due to the proliferation of Software-Driven Vehicles (SDVs) and the advancement of electronic systems. In particular, as functional safety requirements become stricter, relying solely on the method of individually verifying and integrating MCUs, development tools, middleware, and graphical interfaces inevitably leads to increased development time and cost burdens.

The integrated development environment proposed by the four companies is centered around the Infineon DRIVECORE™ platform. DRIVECORE™ is a bundle portfolio that supports development based on automotive microcontrollers such as TRAVEO™ T2G and PSoC™, and aims to reduce the time for initial environment setup and compatibility verification by providing pre-integrated software and development tools.

In this architecture, Infineon provides the hardware and software foundation for automotive MCUs and DRIVECORE™ bundles. IAR is responsible for functional safety-conscious firmware development and the embedded toolchain environment, while Vector supports ECU integration through AUTOSAR-based MICROSAR solutions. The Qt Group provides an HMI development framework that connects embedded data with automotive user interfaces.

The advantage of an integrated ecosystem is that it reduces the time developers spend manually verifying the compatibility of individual tools and allows them to collectively review software components required for mass production readiness, starting from the initial prototyping stage. This can be utilized to shorten the repetitive processes of configuration, interface verification, and functional safety compliance in automotive software development.

Lee Young-hoo, Manager at IAR Korea, said, “An ecosystem combining semiconductors, development tools, middleware, and HMI can play a crucial role in increasing the efficiency of automotive software development,” adding, “We will expand our customer touchpoints in the automotive embedded sector based on cooperation with global partners.”

Details regarding DRIVECORE™ graphics and control solutions can be found on the IAR website and the official Infineon software tools page.
