Automotive Research Institute and Chalmers University of Technology Conduct Joint Research on Electrification and Hydrogen Fuel Cells

Collaboration on core future mobility technologies such as power electronics, thermal management, and hydrogen storage

The Korea Automotive Technology Institute (KATI) has partnered with Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden to conduct joint research in key areas of future mobility, such as electrification and hydrogen-based technologies. Both institutions aim to secure competitiveness in related technologies through the development of eco-friendly vehicle technologies and the expansion of research cooperation.

The Korea Automotive Research Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for future mobility research cooperation with Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, on the 25th (local time).

Chalmers University of Technology is an engineering university with research capabilities in the fields of eco-friendly and energy, and is an institution that has established cooperative relationships with European industry. Through this agreement, the two institutions plan to pursue joint research in the field of mobility technology.

The areas of cooperation include research on power electronics, electromechanical and energy systems, commercial hydrogen storage technology and thermal management technology, hydrogen fuel cell systems, and the development of technologies related to a future hydrogen society.

The Korea Association of Mobility Innovation (KAI) stated that through this collaboration, it aims to secure competitiveness in future mobility technologies and expand their application in various industries.

Jin Jong-wook, President of the Korea Automotive Research Institute, stated, “Hydrogen, electrification, and thermal management technologies are critical technological elements in the future mobility industry,” adding, “We plan to strengthen our research capabilities through cooperation with European research institutions and expand the foundation for domestic and international collaboration.”
