A platform equipped with next-generation AI performance, safety, and scalability.
Simultaneously meeting functional safety and security standards, supporting developer design.
QNX, a subsidiary of BlackBerry Limited, has joined NVIDIA as a key integration partner for its next-generation autonomous driving platform, laying the foundation for developers to innovatively accelerate the entire process of autonomous vehicle development, including design, testing, and mass production.
QNX announced on the 16th that it has officially installed its real-time operating system, 'QNX OS for Safety 8', on the NVIDIA 'DRIVE AGX Thor' developer kit.
DRIVE AGX Thor is equipped with NVIDIA's high-performance system-on-chip (SoC) 'AGX Thor', which provides up to 2,000 FP4 operations per second (OPS) and 1,000 INT8 TFLOPS of processing speed for generative AI workloads.
The hardware includes core software 'DriveOS' based on the 'NVIDIA Halos' architecture designed to meet automotive functional safety requirements.
DriveOS integrates a variety of sensors, redundant computing systems, and software stacks to help developers design safe and intelligent autonomous vehicles.
In particular, QNX OS for Safety 8 is integrated as part of the DriveOS stack, functioning as a highly reliable real-time operating system that has been pre-certified to ISO 26262 ASIL-D and ISO 21434.
QNX Products, Engineering and Services Division “As vehicles become increasingly software-centric, developers are challenged to implement complex systems while simultaneously meeting stringent safety and security standards,” said John Wall, Chief Operating Officer. “With QNX OS for Safety 8, we’re helping simplify development and expedite certification without compromising performance.”
QNX is a highly reliable software adopted by major global automakers and parts suppliers, including BMW, Bosch, Continental, Dongfeng Motor, Geely, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo.
Applicable to various in-vehicle systems such as digital cockpits, ADAS, infotainment systems, and domain controllers, QNX supports future-proof engineering design and helps automakers bring innovative products to market faster and more cost-effectively.
