“Technology is no longer a combination of functions, but a shift in mindset. Power semiconductors, edge AI, and SDV are redefining the industry.

e4ds News held the '2025 e4ds Tech Day' event at the International Conference Room of the Korea Science and Technology Center on the 9th.

'2025 e4ds Tech Day' delved into the technological paradigm shifts of power efficiency, on-device AI, and software-defined vehicles under the theme of 'Semiconductors, AI, SDV - Key Technologies Leading the Future.'

In his opening remarks that day, e4ds News CEO Myung-Hwan Myeong said, “Technology is no longer a combination of functions, but a shift in mindset,” and pointed out the trends of industrial reorganization centered on three keywords: power semiconductors, edge AI, and SDV (Software Defined Vehicle).

Until the early 2000s, power design was a secondary priority in product development.

In contrast, today's SoCs, FPGAs, and AI accelerators require complex designs that require consideration of complex power sequencing and EMI.

Especially in electric vehicles, servers, and communications equipment, power integrity determines product performance.

“SiC-based inverters are required to have an efficiency of over 98%, and AI servers consume over 30kW per rack,” said CEO Myung-Hwan Myeong. “Power devices are no longer simple components, but key elements that redefine system design.”

Additionally, GaN is advantageous for high-speed switching and miniaturization, and is already being commercialized in high-speed chargers and electric vehicle charging modules.

Cloud-based AI is now coming down to the terminal devices, next to the sensors.

The volume of data, communication delays, and user response speed demands highlight the need for edge AI.

The era of real-time inference of vision, voice, and motion data on various MCUs such as STM32, i.MX, and ESP32 has arrived.

At the ST booth participating in this event, a vision AI demo based on STM32N6 was unveiled.

Technology implemented at the MCU level, from object detection and pose estimation using the YOLO architecture to streaming through H.264 encoding, demonstrated the feasibility of edge AI.

An ST official said, “The key to edge AI is not performance, but the ability to react immediately on the spot.”

Cars are no longer just machines.

BMW's Neue Klasse platform transforms vehicles into a single software architecture, with continuous feature updates via over-the-air (OTA).

Zonal architecture reduces cable length, reduces weight, and allows for function definition and deployment centered on the SW architecture.

At the QNX booth, a cloud-based development environment and SDV demo utilizing virtualization technology were introduced.

A QNX official said, “We need to be able to develop software first without hardware,” and that the development paradigm is changing in the SDV era.

Power semiconductors increase the efficiency of edge devices, and edge AI enables intelligent responses in SDVs. These three technologies reinforce each other and are evolving into systems that operate simultaneously across all industries, including electric vehicles, factories, and data centers.

CEO Myung Se-hwan said, "Technology becomes established in an industry through someone's design and selection," and added, "The engineers gathered here today are the ones driving that change."
