Radio Wave Research Institute, AM Solutions Terminal Radio Wave Certification Newly Issued The Ministry of Science and ICT will issue terminal radio wave certification for the first 28 GHz band interoperability 5G in Korea, laying the foundation for the expansion of 28 GHz.
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 7th that it has issued a new certificate of conformity assessment (radio certification) for broadcasting and communications equipment to AM Solutions for terminals (wireless modules and modems) to be used for 5G in the 28 GHz band.
'Radio certification' is a system that certifies that a product complies with technical standards under the Radio Act before selling it in order to prevent radio interference and protect electronic devices and the human body from electromagnetic waves.
With the recent radio certification of three 28 GHz band 5G terminals (modules, modems), the total number of products that have received 5G-related radio certification has increased to 35. As of now, 29 products have been issued with radio wave certification for 5G-related services in the 4.7 GHz band and 6 in the 28 GHz band. Last year, Samsung Electronics received 2 radio wave certifications for the 28 GHz band and Nokia received 1 certification.
The Ministry of Science and ICT said, “With the issuance of radio wave certification for this 28 GHz band 5G terminal, the foundation has been established for the expansion of 5G services such as cloud-based robot and vehicle control, precision medicine, realistic amusement equipment, and real-time large-capacity video transmission and analysis using the 28 GHz band.”
The Ministry of Science and ICT's Radio Policy Bureau Director Choi Woo-hyuk said, "With this radio certification for the 28㎓ band interoperable 5G terminal, we expect that the delay in 28㎓ band services by demand agencies will be resolved, and the foundation for active use of the 28㎓ band will be established."
