'PADO', Independent Corporation Launched, Accelerating Development of Next-Generation Energy Optimization Solutions
LG Electronics is accelerating the development of next-generation energy optimization solutions by continuously discovering and fostering new businesses.
LG Electronics North America Innovation Center (LG NOVA) has launched PADO AI Orchestration Inc. (PADO), a U.S. cleantech startup developing AI-based energy management solutions, as an independent corporation and has begun full-scale nurturing.
LG NOVA has been pursuing a strategy of discovering innovative technologies and supporting startups through its new business incubation organization.
Wave is the second spin-out case following the independent healthcare startup 'Primefocus Health' in May of last year, and is focusing on developing AI-based energy management solutions.
Wave’s solution uses AI and machine learning (ML) to analyze energy demand and supply in real time and predict power load and costs. This can help companies improve the stability and efficiency of their energy operations, and can also be used to build distributed power grids and smart grids.
Recently, Wave is working with global energy tech company MARA to develop next-generation data center energy optimization solutions.
The two companies are developing an AI-based solution that aims to analyze changes in power demand in real time for hyperscale data centers operating more than 100,000 servers and optimize energy supply and load management.
Data centers require a stable power supply 24 hours a day, and power consumption is unbalanced depending on the time zone. Wave's solution allows energy storage systems to use stored energy during peak load periods, and distribute power usage to compensate for instability in external power grids.
This solution enables data center operators to achieve cost savings as well as environmentally friendly sustainability.
“As the energy industry reaches a technology-centered turning point, LG NOVA will continue to discover and foster innovative new businesses,” said Lee Seok-woo, vice president of LG Electronics’ North American Innovation Center.
LG NOVA was founded in Silicon Valley in 2020 with the goal of discovering new businesses and developing new business models in future industrial fields, and has created innovative business opportunities by collaborating with external startups in the fields of health tech, clean tech, AI, and mobility.
We hold the 'Innovation Festival' every year to strengthen cooperation with global startups, investors, and entrepreneurs, and also run 'Mission for the Future', an innovative startup idea contest for new business development.
Recently, LG NOVA has been expanding its diverse industrial and public-private cooperation systems by establishing a partner alliance encompassing large corporations, government organizations, etc., and is continuing collaboration with global innovative companies based on the 3B (Build, Buy, Borrow) strategy.
The 'wave' emitted by LG NOVA is expected to secure competitiveness in the global market and lead sustainable energy innovation through next-generation energy optimization solutions.
