Enhanced replacement convenience with the same specifications as the existing EV-A
Mouser Electronics has expanded the range of power control component options available for the design of electric vehicles and industrial high-voltage equipment by supplying Panasonic Industrial Devices' EV-B relays. This product is a component for DC high-voltage circuits that combines high-current interruption performance with mounting flexibility, targeting a diverse range of sectors including electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, as well as automated guided vehicles (AGVs), construction machinery, and agricultural equipment.

Mouser announced on the 30th that it is supplying EV-B relays. The products being supplied are designed to reliably interrupt up to 2,000A at 500VDC, based on a structure without contact polarity distinction. These specifications offer great potential for use in systems handling high voltage and current, such as electric vehicles and fast charging facilities.

The key feature of the EV-B relay is its design flexibility. It supports both vertical and horizontal mounting, allowing the placement method to be adjusted according to PCB height constraints or internal space structures. Weighing approximately 360g, it can also contribute to the overall weight reduction of the system. This can be considered a practical option in equipment design where power components must be placed within a limited space.

Compatibility with existing products is also noteworthy. The EV-B relay is identical in appearance and size to the previous generation EV-A relay, allowing for replacement without any design changes. This reduces the development burden for manufacturers seeking to improve current processing performance while maintaining their existing platforms.

Durability in high-temperature environments was also presented as a key specification. The EV-B relay supports a switching life capable of handling a 900A current for 20 seconds in an 85-degree environment, and supports ambient temperatures down to 60 degrees under 15% duty conditions. This is interpreted as a design that takes into account stable operation even in environments where both heat and load are high simultaneously.

With the increasing importance of high-voltage power control components driven by the spread of electrification, the EV-B relay can be viewed as a component that considers interruption performance, installation flexibility, and compatibility with existing products. Its scope of application is expected to expand in design environments requiring stable power control in confined spaces, such as finished vehicles, chargers, and industrial equipment.
