BYD and Lucid Motors Adopt NVIDIA Drive BYD and Lucid Motors announced that they are adopting NVIDIA DRIVE for their next-generation vehicles, making NVIDIA the AI computing platform of choice for 20 of the world’s top 30 electric passenger vehicle manufacturers.
NVIDIA announced on the 23rd that it has begun production of the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin autonomous vehicle computer, and unveiled the new automakers that have adopted the NVIDIA DRIVE platform.
More than 25 automakers have now adopted the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin system-on-a-chip (SoC), and they plan to introduce software-defined vehicles based on the centralized AI computing platform starting this year.
DRIVE Hyperion with NVIDIA Orin acts as the new energy vehicle’s central nervous system and AI brain, providing security and cutting-edge AI capabilities.
At this year’s GTC, electric vehicle manufacturers BYD and Lucid Motors announced they are adopting NVIDIA Drive in their next-generation vehicles.
BYD, one of the world’s best-selling electric vehicle brands, is set to launch its next-generation NEVs based on the DRIVE Hyperion software-defined platform starting in early 2023. This vehicle supports intelligent driving and parking functions through the performance of Drive Orin.
Lucid Motors announced that its DreamDrive Pro advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) is built on NVIDIA DRIVE. NVIDIA’s centralized compute architecture integrates with the ADAS hardware of all current Lucid Air sedans. DreamDrive Pro is designed to be enhanced with over-the-air software updates, leveraging future hardware already in the vehicle, enhancing the customer’s driving experience with new and advanced features over time.
In addition to BYD and Lucid Motors, NEV startups such as NIO, Li Auto, Xpeng Motors, SAIC Motor’s IM Motors, R Auto Brands, JiDU, Human Horizons, VinFast, and WM Motor are also developing software-defined vehicles through Drive.
