Dual 200mA operational amplifiers, integrated in a single package
STMicroelectronics has simplified circuits for driving inductive and low-resistance loads such as motors, valves, and rotary resolvers in industrial applications and automotive systems such as advanced steering and automated parking, with a dual high-power amplifier.
ST announced on the 1st that it recently launched the dual high-power amplifier TSB582.
The TSB582 operates from a 4 V to 36 V power supply and features two operational amplifiers (op amps) that can each sink/source up to 200 mA.
This allows direct connection of the load in bridge-tied mode, replacing two single-channel power operational amplifiers or high-current drivers implemented as discrete components with a single TSB582.
The TSB582 integrates two operational amplifiers into a single package, reducing board space by up to 50% and reducing bill of materials (BOM) costs.
The TSB582 is available for industrial as well as battlefield use, supporting applications such as robot movement and position control, conveyor belts, and servo motors. Applications for battlefield applications include motor position sensing, including advanced steering (SbW) and electric drive motors, as well as road-wheel rotation tracking for autonomous driver assistance systems (ADAS) and self-driving vehicles.
The TSB582 features rail-to-rail outputs with internal short-circuit and overtemperature protection and can operate over a gain bandwidth (GBW) of up to 3.1MHz. Both industrial and automotive versions are qualified over the -40°C to 125°C temperature range and offer enhanced EMI and robust ESD performance up to 4kV HBM.
The device is available in two package options: the SO8 with exposed thermal pad and the 3 mm x 3 mm DFN8 with exposed thermal pad and wettable flanks, both of which feature low thermal resistance. The wettable flanks enable post-solder visual inspection, helping to meet automotive quality assurance requirements. The DFN8 3 mm x 3 mm package is available now in industrial grade, with the automotive grade and SO8 package following in Q3 2022.
The TSB582 is backed by ST’s 10-year product longevity guarantee, and free samples are available now through the ST eStore. Prices start at $1.57 for the industrial-grade version and $1.80 for the automotive-qualified version for both package styles.
