ROHM's 1608 size LED optimized for micro-luminescence applications contributes to improved designability of applications and reduction of development man-hours.

ROHM announced on the 15th that it has developed the 'CSL1901 series', a 1608 size (1.6 mm × 0.8 mm) LED optimized for micro-luminescence used for indicators and numeric displays in control devices such as PLCs, FA devices, modems, and communication control devices such as routers.

As the technology of LED devices has recently advanced, the luminous efficiency has improved, accelerating the increase in brightness of LEDs. Therefore, some applications require the design of appropriate luminous intensity and luminous wavelength.

ROHM announced that it has developed a 1608-size LED product that is optimal for micro-luminescence in low-current operation and has high versatility by customizing the light-emitting layer of the device using its own manufacturing element technology in response to the demand for LEDs suited to the characteristics of low-current ranges.

The new product, the 'CSL1901 series', uses ROHM's proprietary element technology to achieve element characteristics suitable for light emission at a low current of 2mA, reducing visual deviations such as brightness and color when light emission is subtle.
/> If a typical 20mA specification LED is illuminated with low current, there may be differences in brightness or changes in color depending on the product.

According to ROHM, the new product reduces brightness deviation by approximately 50% compared to conventional products (when emitting at 2mA) and suppresses color changes by approximately 3nm, which can contribute to reducing design work for emission adjustment and improving the readability of indicators and numeric displays.

In addition, the versatile 1608 size package comes in a lineup of five colors, making it easy to replace depending on the intended use or model change.

ROHM announced that it will begin mass production in July 2022 with a monthly production capacity of 400,000 units, and that it will be available for purchase from online component distribution sites such as CoreStaff and Chip 1 Stop.
