In the AI era, where AI functions are being fully incorporated into products and services, the Korea Electronics Show, where trends in the domestic electronics and IT industries can be seen at a glance, was held to share a vision for future AI convergence development.
Korea Electronics Show (KES 2024), a domestic electronics and IT industry exhibition, was held on the 22nd at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul, hosted by the Korea Electronics Association (KEA).
Under the theme of 'Hybrid AI, Drawing a Sustainable World', this year's Korea Electronics Show was attended by 520 companies from 13 countries, including the United States, Japan, Germany, and China, and showcased various cross-industry convergence products and solutions in 1,400 booths, including robotics, mobility, artificial intelligence transformation (AX), extended reality (XR), and ESG.
Samsung Electronics set up a booth with the theme of AI Life at this exhibition. They showcased their △Home, △Office, and △Store spaces by putting AI technology at the forefront, and emphasized the importance of security in the AI era by revealing △'Knox Matrix' that comprehensively protects connected devices based on Samsung's security solution Knox, △'Knox Vault', a security chip that stores important data, and △'Passkey', a biometric authentication system.
AI-based spaces were dominated by solutions that monitor biological routines. It provides a fall notification function based on motion detection through wearable devices and a personalized health management solution from sleep to exercise based on health data.
The AI Office introduced the Galaxy AI, which supports AI access control based on facial recognition, an AI-customized environment that automatically adjusts lighting, air conditioning, and video systems, and note-taking and real-time interpretation through note assist.

On this day, global technology leaders such as Brian Comiskey, Senior Director of the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), Jang Byeong-tak, Director of the Seoul National University AI Research Institute, Kim Young-jun, Executive Director of LG Electronics, and Yoo Seo-bong, Head of KT, participated as speakers in the opening keynote and shared the latest technology trends and vision for the future of the industry.
Director Jang Byeong-tak predicted that while generative AI is being led by countries such as the US and China based on large investments, there will be opportunities for domestic companies in behavioral AI, which is in charge of these functions because AI must be able to sense visual, tactile, and olfactory aspects of physical reality and collect data in order to think.
Director Jang said, “Prompt engineers have emerged as a new job in the AI era, and tutoring engineers will be in demand in the future,” and suggested, “We need to think about the social structure because AI robots and humanoids will fully invade the blue-collar field.”

Executive Director Kim Young-jun said that memory is a problem in the era of on-device AI, saying, “AI models are developing rapidly and their bandwidth has increased significantly, but the speed of memory bandwidth development cannot keep up.” He pointed out that, “Although HBM with large bandwidth is used for AI calculations, power consumption is high.”
“Low-power HBM will move to mobile devices, just as we are moving toward reducing power consumption with LPDDR in mobile and laptop devices,” said Executive Director Kim. “Products equipped with PIM will also be released within two years,” he said, adding that memory bandwidth development must be rapid.
