SK Hynix has appointed its first female board chairperson since the company was founded, which is expected to enhance the diversity and governance of the board.
SK Hynix announced today that it had appointed outside director Han Ae-ra as the chairwoman of the board of directors at a board meeting held after the end of the regular shareholders' meeting on the 27th.
The company said, “Chairwoman Han Ae-ra joined the company’s board of directors in 2020 and served concurrently as an audit committee member, contributing to strengthening the company’s governance structure and audit function as a legal expert.” The company added, “As the first female chairwoman of the board since the company was founded, we expect her to be a great help in expanding the board’s diversity and improving governance.”
Chairwoman Han Ae-ra is currently a professor at the Law School of Sungkyunkwan University after serving as a judge and lawyer. She is also active as a mediator at the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and an international arbitrator at the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board. Since 2022, she has also served as the Vice President of the Korean Artificial Intelligence Law Society, conducting research on various laws, systems, and policy responses related to AI.
Chairman Han Ae-ra said, “I will do my best to ensure that the company continues to grow without losing its focus as a technology company in a rapidly changing domestic and international environment.”
