Achieve 13.5% market share in 2024
Infineon Technologies (Korea CEO Seung-soo Lee) has strengthened its position as the number one automotive semiconductor market by increasing its market share for automotive semiconductors in 2024.
According to the latest market research from TechInsights, Infineon will achieve a 13.5 percent market share in the global automotive semiconductor market in 2024.
In Europe, it rose from second place to first place with a market share of 14.1 percent in 2023, and it also strengthened its position in the North American market, rising from third place last year to second place with a share of 10.4 percent.
The global market share of automotive microcontrollers rose again to 32.0 percent, widening the gap with the second-place competitor to 2.7 percentage points.
Infineon ranked first in Korea with a 17.7 percent market share, and maintained its lead in China, the largest market for automotive semiconductors, with a 13.9 percent market share.
In Japan, it maintained a solid second place with a 13.2 percent share.
The global automotive semiconductor market size in 2024 is estimated to be $68.4 billion, a slight decrease of 1.2 percent from $69.2 billion in 2023.

“Infineon has been the world’s number one supplier of automotive semiconductors for the fifth consecutive year and is enjoying success worldwide,” said Peter Schiefer, President of Infineon’s Automotive Division. “For the first time in our history, we are ranked among the top two automotive semiconductor suppliers in every region. This global success is a testament to our strong product portfolio, outstanding customer support and our commitment to our customers’ specific requirements.”
Infineon's semiconductors are essential for driving digitalization and decarbonization of vehicles, making them greener, safer and smarter.
Semiconductors are used in all major automotive applications, including driver assistance and safety systems, powertrain and battery management, and convenience and infotainment functions.
In particular, it focuses on evolving the electrical/electronic (E/E) architecture toward a more centralized zonal design as a foundation for implementing software-defined vehicles (SDVs).
This requires cutting-edge connectivity and data security, smart power distribution and real-time computing performance.
Asif Anwar, director of automotive market research at TechInsights, said in the TechInsights Automotive Semiconductor Supplier Market Share Rankings, “Infineon’s fifth consecutive year of leadership was largely driven by microcontrollers. Semiconductors for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), particularly SoCs and memory, were among the top performing product groups. Infineon excelled in microcontrollers used in ADAS and a variety of other applications. “Even though the automotive microcontroller market declined by 8.2 percent year-on-year, Infineon maintained its strong position by increasing its market share by 3.6 percentage points to 32.0 percent,” he said.
