Mercury Research Spotlights Growth in Cloud and AI PC Market
AMD continues to develop technologies for AI computing and data center optimization, expanding its influence in the market.
According to the Q1 2025 x86 processor shipments report released by market research firm Mercury Research, AMD continues to see strong growth in the server and client segments.
AMD gained share in both the server and client markets, driven in particular by increased demand from the cloud and enterprise segments, expanded Ryzen channels, and the growing AI PC notebook market.
AMD's server market revenue share reached a record 39.4%, up 6.5 percentage points year-over-year and 3.1 percentage points quarter-over-quarter. This is analyzed as a result of the strengthened competitiveness of AMD EPYC processors in the cloud and data center markets.
AMD's growth was also notable in the client market. It recorded a market share of 26.5%, up 10.2 percentage points year-on-year and 2.7 percentage points quarter-on-quarter, continuing to expand the market.
AMD also showed strong growth in the desktop segment. Desktop market sales share increased by 15.2 percentage points year-over-year and 6.4 percentage points quarter-over-quarter, showing that AMD Ryzen processors are popular among users.
The mobile sector also continued to see growth in market share. AMD’s mobile market sales share increased by 7.3 percentage points year-on-year and 0.5 percentage points quarter-on-quarter, maintaining growth along with the expansion of the AI PC notebook market.
According to a Mercury Research report, AMD further solidified its competitive position with Intel by recording a 31.6% share of the overall CPU market, up 9.0 percentage points year-over-year and 3.1 percentage points quarter-over-quarter.
