NXP가 2세대 차량용 개발 플랫폼 ‘오렌지박스 2.0(OrangeBox 2.0)’을 공개하며, 자동차 보안 및 연결성을 강화하면서 SDV 전환을 지원한다.
Equipped with AI, quantum-resistant cryptography, and software-defined networking
NXP Unveils Second-Generation Automotive Development Platform to Support SDV Transition While Strengthening Automotive Security and Connectivity
NXP has unveiled its second-generation automotive development platform, ‘OrangeBox 2.0’.
This model enables more secure communication between the vehicle's gateway and wireless technology, and serves as a connectivity domain controller that supports the transition to software-defined vehicles (SDVs).
Orange Box 2.0 quadruples CPU performance compared to the previous model and provides advanced security and connectivity with built-in AI acceleration, support for Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), ASIL B Safety Island, and software-defined networking capabilities.
As wireless connectivity expands in the automotive industry, cyber threats are increasing, and responding to them is essential. The Orange Box 2.0 is based on the high-performance i.MX 94 application processor and provides proactive cybersecurity capabilities leveraging machine learning, while software-defined networking (SDN) and 2.5Gbps Ethernet switches provide the flexibility required for SDV.
“OrangeBox 2.0 can detect abnormal communication patterns and protect vehicles by leveraging AI,” said Dan Loop, vice president of automotive edge processing at NXP. “It will support vehicle management and predictive maintenance capabilities with enhanced AI, security, and connectivity features.”
The Orange Box 2.0 defends against quantum computer attacks with NXP’s first i.MX 94 processor with support for quantum-resistant public key cryptography (PQC), and implements high-speed secure boot, real-time message signing, secure updates, and encrypted communications with the EdgeLock Secure Enclave and EdgeLock Accelerator.
The Orange Box 2.0 includes the AW693 solution, which supports dual-band Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4, supporting secure over-the-air (OTA) software updates. It also provides a smart car access solution and an automotive secure element based on NXP’s latest Bluetooth low energy (BLE) and ultra-wideband (UWB) technologies.
The Orange Box 2.0 automotive development platform is scheduled to be released in the second half of 2025. For more information, please visit NXP’s official website (NXP.com/OrangeBox) and contact NXP’s global sales team.
