Mass production of 'vSECC.MCS', a communication controller for megawatt charging
Vector Korea (CEO Ji-Hwan Jang), a global company leading in vehicle networks and embedded system software, is mass-producing a communication controller for megawatt charging, actively responding to the demand for high-speed charging infrastructure in the large commercial electric vehicle sector.
Vector announced on the 30th that it has recently entered mass production of its communication controller for megawatt charging systems (MCS), 'vSECC.MCS'.
This new product was developed to meet the needs of the rapidly electrifying market, including electric commercial vehicles and large trucks, and is an innovative solution that supports charging power of up to 3.75 megawatts (MW), allowing a typical large truck battery to be charged up to 80% in approximately 45 minutes.
Megawatt-class charging technology utilizes 1,000 kilowatts of power, which is much higher than existing electric vehicle chargers, to enable fast charging during short stopping times, which is expected to contribute significantly to driving efficiency and overall operating cost reduction for drivers.
The new product vSECC.MCS has undergone intensive field testing for approximately one year, rigorously verifying its performance under real driving environments and various system conditions.
During the testing process, we worked closely with several pilot customers and actively reflected customer feedback to further refine the product.
/> The final prototype has successfully passed electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing and is ready for mass production with first shipments scheduled for later this year.
This controller is equipped with an Ethernet communication interface based on the international standard ISO 15118-20, and the connector system complies with the IEC TS 63379 technical specifications, providing stability that global charging infrastructure manufacturers can use with confidence.
Additionally, Vector’s vSECC.MCS supports the Combined Charging System (CCS) in addition to the Megawatt Charging System, ensuring backward compatibility with existing vehicles and including the ability to charge two vehicles simultaneously on a single charger.
In addition, by sharing the same hardware platform and common firmware base as vSECC, Vector's existing CCS combined charging system controller, it is designed to enable easy expansion of existing designs and rapid development of new MCS systems.
“vSECC.MCS is a robust, real-world proven communications controller that has been developed with a focus on seamless system integration and rapid time-to-market,” said Dr. Omar Abu Mohareb, Product Manager. “Our close collaboration with our pilot customers has allowed us to deliver an optimal solution that meets the real-world needs of the market.”
Meanwhile, Vector Korea will also participate in the 'EV Trend Korea 2025' exhibition to be held at COEX in Samseong-dong from June 3rd to 5th.
