nRF54L Series Implements Efficient Edge Machine Learning Through Automated TinyML Platform

Nordic Semiconductor, a global leader in ultra-low power wireless connectivity solutions, is accelerating the groundbreaking nRF54L Series with Newton.AI’s automated TinyML platform to enable easy-to-use, highly efficient machine learning implementations at the edge.
Nordic announced today that it is acquiring the core technology assets and intellectual property (IP) of Neuton.AI, a leader in fully automated TinyML solutions for edge devices.
This acquisition enables Nordic to usher in a new era of edge machine learning by combining its industry-leading nRF54L Series ultra-low power wireless SoCs with Newton.AI’s innovative neural network framework to enable scalable, high-performance AI even in the most resource-constrained devices.

Newton.AI’s technological breakthrough lies in its fully automated platform, which typically produces machine learning models less than 5KB, making them up to 10x smaller and faster than other approaches. In addition, these models are extremely easy to use, require no manual tuning or data science expertise, and can be rapidly deployed on a variety of MCUs ranging from 8-bit to 16-bit to 32-bit.
Newton.AI enables accurate, energy-efficient, and fast AI for edge applications across consumer, healthcare, and industrial sectors with a revolutionary neural network framework that automatically implements ultra-small models without the need to predefine a specific architecture.
Additionally, all these features are implemented with minimal use of device and system resources such as power and code memory.

This acquisition addresses the rapidly growing demand for intelligence on edge nodes. According to ABI Research, TinyML chipset shipments are expected to reach $5.9 billion by 2030.
To capitalize on these opportunities, Nordic is focused on providing developers with a powerful and scalable AI and machine learning toolkit that supports a wide range of applications, including predictive maintenance, smart health monitoring, process automation, gesture recognition, and next-generation consumer wearables and IoT devices.
The acquisition includes all of Newton.AI’s IP and certain assets, including a highly capable team of 13 highly skilled engineers and data scientists. The Newton.AI brand and platform will continue to operate during the initial integration phase to ensure uninterrupted service to existing users and partners.
Financial terms were not disclosed, and completion of the transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals.
