PSOC™ 4 HVMS MCU for Smart Sensors and Actuators Launched
Infineon Technologies AG (Korea CEO Seung-Soo Lee) has launched the PSOC 4 HVMS MCU, strengthening its lineup of high-voltage sensing and actuation solutions and security-embedded MCUs tailored to the expansion of electric and autonomous vehicles.
Infineon has officially launched the PSOC™ 4 HVMS (High-Voltage Mixed-Signal) family of high-voltage mixed-signal MCUs.
This new product is designed to target space-constrained sensing and actuator applications, providing a single-chip solution that can be directly connected to the vehicle battery and network.
In the automotive market, demand for compact and highly integrated control devices is rapidly increasing as the scope of functional safety application expands to low-spec MCUs.
Robust capacitive sensing solutions are essential, especially in the human-machine interface (HMI) area, including interior touch buttons, sliders, and pads, steering wheel hands-on sensing, passenger detection, and door handle and window lifter control.
PSOC 4 HVMS is optimized for automotive HMI applications such as touch buttons, sliders, touchpads, as well as steering wheel hands-on detection, door handles/window lifters, seat adjustment, and sunroof control.
Also PTC for indoor/outdoor lighting and heat management It can also be used to drive heater systems.
Key specifications include up to 128 KB embedded flash and 16 KB SRAM based on the ARM® Cortex®-M0+ core.
It can be powered directly from the vehicle battery with built-in LIN and CXPI transceivers and low-voltage dropout LDOs, and implements pre-verified subsystems with minimal external components.
The 5th generation CAPSENSE™ technology was applied to support touch sensing, realizing parasitic capacitance compensation and high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).
It is suitable for low-power applications due to its low power consumption, and has rich analog functions such as a 12-bit SAR ADC, up to 2-channel operational amplifier, and low-power comparator.
Compliant with ISO 26262 ASIL-B and capable of operating up to 125 °C, the PSOC 4 HVMS is available in a compact QFN package, ensuring pin compatibility and scalability across a wide range of devices.
Accelerate ASIL-compliant development through software ecosystems such as AutoPDL (Automotive Peripheral Driver Library), CAPSENSE MW (Middleware), and SafeTLib, and support evaluation and prototyping with the ModusToolbox™ integrated development environment.
“The PSOC 4 HVMS MCU integrates high-voltage, analog, and communication functions into a single chip, dramatically simplifying the development of automotive sensors and actuators with strict space constraints,” said Seungsoo Lee, CEO of Infineon Korea. “With stability based on ISO 26262 and rich software support, we will provide customers with the optimal HMI solution.”
