Innovation in battlefield applications with 53% area reduction and 2.1 times larger capacity compared to existing models
Murata Manufacturing, a leader in ceramic element technology, has begun mass production of the 'GCM21BE71H106KE02', the world's first multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) for use in automotive electronics, achieving a 2012M (2.0×1.25mm) size and a capacitance of 10μF at a rated voltage of 50Vdc.
Hundreds of high-performance, high-capacity capacitors are installed in circuits surrounding AD (autonomous driving) and ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) ICs in vehicles.
As system performance increases, the demand for components for power noise control and power stabilization increases, and PCB (printed circuit board) space becomes increasingly scarce.
Murata Manufacturing met this market demand by simultaneously achieving MLCC miniaturization and large capacity through its own thin film and lamination technology.
The new product 'GCM21BE71H106KE02' is characterized by securing a large capacity of 10μF at a rated voltage of 50Vdc while being implemented in a 2012M size.
Compared to existing products with the same voltage and capacity (3216M size/50Vdc/10μF), the mounting area has been reduced by approximately 53%, and compared to the existing 2012M product (4.7μF/50Vdc), the electrostatic capacity has been increased by approximately 2.1 times.
Vehicle standard power supplyIt is possible to mount a 12Vdc input, which not only saves space on the board but also significantly reduces the number of parts, contributing to weight reduction of the electric system.
Murata Manufacturing stated, “In the automobile industry, where autonomous driving and electrification are accelerating, miniaturization and enlargement of core power stabilization components are essential tasks,” and “We will provide differentiated solutions to automobile OEMs and module companies through the world’s first mass production of 2012M·50Vdc·10μF MLCCs.”
