AI-based data center and enterprise storage environment optimization
Microchip Technology has unveiled a high-performance solution optimized for AI-based data centers and enterprise storage environments.
Microchip Technology Inc. today announced the availability of its latest NVMe® RAID storage accelerator product family, the Adaptec® SmartRAID 4300.
This product line combines software-defined storage (SDS) and secure RAID capabilities to meet the demanding needs of server manufacturers (OEMs), cloud infrastructure, and data center customers.
The SmartRAID 4300 is based on Microchip's 'Smart Storage' platform and adopts a disaggregated architecture that separates hardware and software.
Hardware accelerates RAID operations through PCIe® storage controllers, while software optimizes data flow by leveraging the host CPU and PCIe infrastructure.
This eliminates the bottleneck of existing inline storage methods and provides input/output (I/O) performance that is up to 7 times improved.
Smart Storage software runs on the host CPU and offloads redundancy processing, such as XOR operations, to hardware, reducing CPU load.
Gen 4 and Gen 5 It supports PCIe host CPUs and provides high expandability and flexibility with x4 NVMe devices connected to up to 32 CPUs and 64 logical drive configurations.
“The SmartRAID 4300 is an innovative solution that overcomes the limitations of traditional storage architectures and simultaneously improves performance and efficiency,” said Brian McCarson, vice president of Microchip’s Data Center Solutions business unit.
This product line is designed for NVMe SSDs and cloud environments, and ensures end-to-end data integrity through semiconductor technology that enhances power efficiency and multiple safety devices.
It also includes enterprise-grade security features such as hardware root of trust, secure boot, firmware verification, and SED (self-encrypting drive) support.
In terms of management tools, the SmartRAID 4300 supports the HTML5-based maxView™ web interface, ARCCONF CLI, and remote and local management plugins.
Redfish® device management capabilities and DMTF standard-based BMC management are also available, enabling flexible operations both in-band and out-of-band.
The Adaptec SmartRAID 4300 is now in full production and shipping. For purchasing and deployment information, please contact your Microchip authorized distributor or representative.
