Our portfolio of GNSSDO modules provides precise timing even in environments with limited GNSS reception.

Microchip Technology has enhanced its high-performance Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) solutions for the aerospace and defense industries.

Microchip Technology Inc. today announced a new portfolio of GNSS Synchronized Oscillator (GNSSDO) modules.

The new product provides precise timing even in environments with limited GNSS reception, significantly simplifying the expertise required for complex system design and delivering optimized performance for a wide range of embedded applications.

The GNSSDO module provides precise timing and stable holdover performance by receiving signals from GNSS or an external reference clock to synchronize the onboard oscillator.

In particular, it can reliably perform core PNT functions even in environments where GNSS reception is difficult, such as radar, satellite communications (SATCOM), tactical equipment, and vehicle platforms.

The new product lineup consists of three main products.

MD-013 ULTRA CLEAN supports multiple GNSS including GPS, Galileo, BeiDou, and NavIC, and provides ultra-low phase noise and excellent frequency stability based on high-performance OCXO. Built-in 72-channel GNSS receiver, supports 1PPS TTL and 10MHz output.

The MD-300 is optimized for small size, light weight, and low power (SWaP), making it ideal for drones and portable devices. Based on a MEMS OCXO or TCXO, it boasts excellent shock and vibration resistance.

The LM-010 PPS reference module is designed for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. It features a radiation-hardened Compensated Satellite Acquisition (CSAC) or Digitally Compensated OCXO.

All GNSSDO modules can be configured as standalone modules or as sub-modules of larger systems, and ensure high reliability by using oscillators designed and manufactured by Microchip.

It utilizes its own components, including 32-bit MCUs and SmartFusion® 2 FPGAs, to simultaneously satisfy integration and expandability.

Performance parameter adjustment and system testing are possible through the VDOM3 software and GUI, and module connection and monitoring are easy to perform through the MD-01X evaluation kit.

It also provides control functions based on serial communication protocol, supporting various functions such as automatic switching, GNSS tracking, and holdover settings.

“Microchip’s PNT expertise helps customers efficiently integrate GNSSDO modules into their designs,” said Randy Brudzinski, vice president of Microchip. “Providing a wide range of choices, from standard products to customized solutions, simplifies the development process.”
