Launch of the 'Vegalas™ Power' series of high-power multi-die lasers.
ams OSRAM (Korea Representative Seok-Won Kang), a global optoelectronic solutions company, is set to fully transform the global projection market by supplying all the key optoelectronic components required for projection through the launch of a high-power multi-die laser light source.
ams OSRAM announced today the launch of the first product in its Vegalas™ Power series of high-power multi-die laser packages.
The newly unveiled Vegalas™ Power PLPM7_455QA is a high-performance laser light source that achieves 42 W of optical output and approximately 45% power conversion efficiency (WPE) in a short pulse cycle, and can be used in various fields ranging from home cinemas to automotive head-up displays (HUDs) and industrial machine vision.
It also demonstrates powerful performance in special applications such as weed control and stage lighting.
ams OSRAM, building on its experience as a leader in the existing LED light source market, has established itself as a one-stop solution provider, providing all key optoelectronic components required for projection, including LEDs, lasers, and sensors, through the Vegalas™ Power series.
This allows customers to build customized projection systems with a portfolio that integrates color, power ratings, and sensor functionality.
laser The base projector has advantages over existing high-pressure discharge lamps, such as up to 50% higher light output, a lifespan of at least 20,000 hours, and low noise.
These characteristics contribute to reduced maintenance costs and sustainable energy use, while providing high-quality images reliably over a long period of time.
The Vegalas™ Power series is based on high-power GaN laser technology and is available in single and multi-die packages across the visible wavelength range, utilizing SMT and MCB package technologies for efficient heat dissipation.
The sensor portfolio includes dToF modules for distance measurement and a variety of photodetectors for precise projection control.
ams OSRAM is supporting the development of next-generation projectors that deliver 65-75% lower cost per projection surface than LCD and OLED, strengthening competitiveness in the professional and consumer large-screen display markets.
Additionally, in the automotive industry, we are pursuing advancements in HUD and lighting systems through certified LED products.
The Vegalas™ Power PLPM7_455QA is currently available for purchase, with additional products in the series to follow in the coming months.
