Launch of the new linear voltage regulator (LDO) 'L99VR03'
Automatic adaptive standby current, wide input voltage, high temperature endurance
STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), a global semiconductor leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications, has launched a new LDO voltage regulator that supports auto-adaptive quiescent current, wide input voltage, and high-temperature environments, enhancing the stability of automotive electrical systems.
ST announced on the 1st that it has launched a new linear voltage regulator (LDO) 'L99VR03' to improve the power efficiency of automotive electrical systems.
This product is designed specifically for battery energy conservation and is AEC-Q100 certified, providing stable power to various vehicle circuits, including body control modules, telematics, lighting controllers, and head units.
The L99VR03 offers an ultra-low quiescent current of 3.5 μA at no load, and the enable pin can reduce current to 800 nA.
Additionally, a built-in soft-start circuit limits current during power-on and error recovery, thereby increasing system stability. This minimizes battery consumption even during long-term standby, contributing to extending the life of the vehicle battery.
This product supports an input voltage of up to 40 V and an operating temperature range of -40°C to 175°C. This makes it suitable for use not only in the engine compartment of internal combustion engine vehicles but also in power modules of electric vehicle drivetrains. It ensures stable output even under extreme conditions such as cold cranking and load dumping.
The L99VR03 provides a fixed 3.3 V or 5 V output and maintains output accuracy within ±2% under all conditions. It also boasts a switching noise rejection ratio (PSRR) of greater than 60 dB at 1 kHz, enhancing the reliability of in-vehicle communication and control circuits. It also ensures stability with a minimum output capacitance of 2.2 μF, enhancing design flexibility.
ST offers this product in two packages.
VFDFN8L (3mm x 2mm) has a wettable flank structure, making quality inspection easy.
The PowerSSO12 (4.9mm x 3.9mm) includes a large heat spreader to maximize heat dissipation.
Pricing starts at $0.39 for the VFDFN8L package and $0.51 for the PowerSSO12 package, and is available through the ST eStore and authorized distributors.
“Automotive electronic systems are becoming increasingly complex, and efficient power management is a key challenge,” said an ST official. “The L99VR03’s ultra-low-power design and wide operating range help customers implement stable and efficient vehicle electronic systems.”
