ChatGPT Enterprise Reseller Partnership Signed
Samsung is partnering with global AI leader OpenAI to build a next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) data center, spurring the competitiveness of South Korea's AI industry.
On the 1st, Samsung signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Open AI at the Samsung Electronics Seocho building to build a global AI core infrastructure.
This collaboration involves four Samsung affiliates, including Samsung Electronics, Samsung SDS, Samsung C&T, and Samsung Heavy Industries, establishing a comprehensive partnership that brings together each company's core competencies in semiconductors, data centers, cloud, and marine technologies.
Samsung Electronics plans to participate as a strategic partner in OpenAI's 'Stargate Project' to meet the demand for high-performance, low-power DRAM.
OpenAI is expected to request a supply of 900,000 wafers per month, more than double the global HBM production capacity.
Samsung Electronics is a comprehensive semiconductor company with a product portfolio spanning the entire process required for AI learning and inference, including memory semiconductors, system semiconductors, and foundries. It can provide differentiated technologies to OpenAI through its packaging technology and convergence solutions.
Samsung SDS will collaborate with OpenAI on joint development of AI data centers and provision of AI services for enterprises.
We will support the design, construction, and operation of the Stargate AI data center, and provide consulting and technical support to companies seeking to introduce OpenAI models into their internal systems.
Additionally, we are promoting the adoption of AI by domestic companies by signing the first reseller partnership for the OpenAI ChatGPT Enterprise service in Korea.
Samsung C&T and Samsung Heavy Industries are jointly developing a floating data center to be installed at sea.
This data center offers the advantages of less space constraints, higher cooling efficiency, and reduced carbon emissions. The two companies are also jointly developing floating power generation facilities and control centers based on their proprietary technologies.
Through this collaboration, Samsung plans to play a key role in helping Korea leap forward as one of the top three global AI powerhouses.
The strategy is to strengthen future AI competitiveness and secure leadership in the global AI ecosystem through large-scale R&D investment, preemptive expansion of domestic and international facilities, and fostering and attracting top talent.
Meanwhile, Samsung is also considering expanding ChatGPT internally to increase employee technology development productivity and accelerate innovation.
