ams OSRAM Unveils 'OSLON™ Compact RM,' Next-Generation LED for Ultra-Slim Headlamps

ams OSRAM has unveiled a new generation of automotive LEDs, the OSLON™ Compact RM. Based on a high-current rectangular chip in a compact ceramic package, these products support advanced headlight applications such as low beam, high beam, and Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) systems, delivering high brightness, uniform lighting, and outstanding energy efficiency.

The OSLON™ Compact RM is a new member of the Compact LED family, designed to meet the technical and stylistic demands of next-generation headlamp systems. At its core is a compact architecture featuring a 0.5mm² rectangular high-current chip housed in a ceramic package, enabling an optical system as small as 10mm in height, enabling ultra-slim headlamp designs.

The new product features a light-emitting area (LEA) of 0.6 mm x 0.9 mm and an aspect ratio of 1:1.5, maintaining high brightness and uniform light output without dark areas. At the same time, it secured energy efficiency, which is an important factor in the era of electric vehicles (EVs).

The OSLON™ Compact RM is tailored for three lighting functions: low beam, high beam, and Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) LED matrix systems. The vertical layout within the package enables precise pixel-to-pixel alignment and provides a wide vertical light spread in ADB systems. Achieving a high brightness of 209 Mnits at a 1A drive current, it ensures optimal performance even in compact lens configurations.

The compact two-pad package design supports reliable soldering on aluminum boards, making it ideal for a variety of automotive lighting applications. Furthermore, its high brightness, uniform lighting, and color reproduction make it ideal for use as a signature lighting element that reinforces brand identity.
