Samsung Electronics achieved record-high earnings in the fourth quarter of 2025, driven by growth in AI semiconductors.

Samsung Electronics disclosed its 2025 business results on the 29th.

According to this, sales in 2025 amounted to 33.36059 trillion won, an increase of 10.9% compared to the previous year, and operating profit was 43.6011 trillion won, an increase of 33.2% compared to the previous year. Net profit was 45.2068 trillion won, an increase of 31.2% compared to the previous year.

Sales in the fourth quarter of 2025 were 93.9374 trillion won, an increase of 23.8% year-on-year, and operating profit was 20.0737 trillion won, an increase of 209.2%. Net profit increased by 153.3% to 19.6417 trillion won.

In the fourth quarter, strong performance in the memory business driven by increased demand for AI semiconductors led to earnings.

The key to this fourth-quarter performance is the DS (Device Solutions) division.

The DS division recorded sales of 44 trillion won and an operating profit of 16.4 trillion won, achieving its highest quarterly performance ever.

Sales of high-value memory for AI and servers, such as HBM (High Bandwidth Memory) and DDR5, increased significantly, and profitability improved substantially as this was compounded by the effect of rising memory prices.

The increased proportion of high-value products, such as server DDR5 and enterprise SSDs, also contributed to the increase in operating profit.

The foundry business saw revenue expand due to increased demand from major customers in the U.S. and China as it began full-scale mass production of the 2nm first-generation process, but profitability improvement was limited due to the impact of provisions.

Although System LSI's performance slowed somewhat due to the seasonal off-season, it maintained sales growth driven by increased sales of 200-megapixel image sensors and new Big Pixel products.

The DX (Device eXperience) division recorded sales of 44.3 trillion won and an operating profit of 1.3 trillion won.

Although sales declined compared to the previous quarter due to the diminishing impact of new smartphone model launches and intensified competition, double-digit profitability was maintained on an annual basis thanks to stable sales of flagship smartphones, tablets, and wearables.

Despite sales focused on premium products, performance for TVs and home appliances declined slightly due to the impact of global tariffs and the seasonal off-peak period.

Samsung Electronics focused on securing future technological competitiveness by investing a record-breaking 37.7 trillion won in research and development in 2025. Preemptive investments in key areas such as AI semiconductors, next-generation memory, and advanced processes are continuing.

The semiconductor business is expected to continue its growth in the first quarter of 2026, driven by demand for AI and servers.

Samsung Electronics plans to strengthen its leadership in the AI semiconductor market by expanding HBM4 mass production and securing additional orders from major clients.

The DX division also plans to enhance its competitiveness by launching new flagship products and providing AI experiences closely integrated into daily life.

However, uncertainties such as global tariffs and geopolitical risks remain variables. Samsung Electronics plans to continue stable growth by leading the AI transition based on its 'one-stop solution' capabilities encompassing logic, memory, foundry, and packaging.
