SAN JOSE, Calif. – May 19, 2015 — Fairchild (NASDAQ: FCS), a global supplier of high-performance power semiconductor solutions, today announced that its first commercial USB Type-C devices are featured in LeTV’s new Le 1, Le 1 Pro and Le MAX series smartphones. Fairchild’s latest USB solution integrates all the key features of the new Type-C connector into an incredibly small 1.2mm x 1.2mm WLCSP package. The small size and ultra-low standby power operation make it ideal for the next generation of mobile products, dongles, travel adapters, PCs, accessories and wearables that utilize the new USB interface.

USB Type-C is also compatible with USB legacy data protocols and standards, and has the added benefit of featuring an identical connector at each end of the cable. This means you’ll significantly reduce the amount of fumbling around to properly connect a connector to charge or sync your device. As adoption grows across the industry, consumers will only need one cable for all of their devices for data transfer and charging.
The new USB standard’s size helps enable thinner designs, resulting in LeTV’s new super-thin smartphone with virtually no bezel around the display. Fairchild’s components used in LeTV’s devices are the first in a family of solutions that achieve a new level of small size and ultra-low power consumption that minimizes battery drain. It also makes the overall design easier and simpler to implement, with a simple communication interface.
