Integrated supply across five areas, including Schneider distribution panels, UPS, transformers, and automatic control.
SK Telecom is accelerating the construction of 'SK AI Data Center Ulsan,' Korea's largest AI-only data center, in partnership with global MEP (mechanical, electrical, and piping) solutions company Schneider Electric.
SKT and Schneider signed an integrated purchase agreement for MEP equipment on August 31st and also announced an additional MOU expanding the scope of strategic cooperation to the group level.
This contract is the first outcome of the partnership signed at MWC25 in March, and Schneider's MEP equipment in five areas, including distribution panels, UPS, transformers, and automatic control, will be supplied in an integrated manner to 'SK AI Data Center Ulsan.'
SK Telecom's AI DC technology and Schneider's global MEP solution are being combined to build a cutting-edge infrastructure.
Additionally, Schneider's power system digital twin solution, ETAP, will be integrated into SKT's integrated AI DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) system to maximize the efficiency and stability of data center operations.
The two companies SK OnWe will also work to create synergy at the group level, such as collaborating on the development of UPS and ESS utilizing lithium-ion batteries, and expanding cooperation based on the demand for MEP equipment across the SK Group.
In particular, cooperation is expected to be strengthened in various fields, such as joint design of pre-fab integrated solutions, linkage of automatic control systems, and joint sales of energy subscription services (EaaS).
Pankaj Sharma, EVP of Schneider Electric, said, “The combined technologies and know-how of both companies will set a new standard for AI data centers. Together, we will create a sustainable and efficient next-generation data center ecosystem.”
SK Telecom CEO Yoo Young-sang said, “This collaboration is an extension of SKT’s AI pyramid strategy of ‘self-reliance and cooperation.’ We will create the best synergy through the construction of the Guro AI DC, the gigawatt-scale expansion of the Ulsan AI DC, and the expansion of cooperation with SK Group member companies.”
