Schneider Electric (Korea Branch Representative Kwon Ji-woong), a global energy management and automation specialist, is expanding into the next-generation AI data center market by supplying liquid cooling solutions targeting the data center cooling market.

Schneider announced on the 30th that it has recently unveiled a portfolio of liquid cooling solutions optimized for high-performance computing (HPC) and AI workloads, and is entering the data center thermal management market in earnest.

This is the first announcement since the merger with Motivair, a US-based liquid cooling specialist acquired earlier this year.

Due to the recent increase in heat generation and density of AI chips, the power demand per rack in data centers is exceeding 140 kW and is being considered to be up to 1 MW or more.

While conventional air cooling methods struggle to handle these environments, liquid cooling offers up to 3,000 times higher heat removal efficiency than air cooling, and enables direct cooling at the chip level, enabling both energy savings and improved performance.

Schneider Electric's liquid cooling portfolio includes: Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs), Rear Door Heat Exchangers (RDHx), Liquid-to-Air Heat Dissipation Units (HDUs), and Dynamic Cold Plates.It consists of a △air-cooled free-cooling chiller, etc., and provides a comprehensive thermal management solution that includes not only hardware but also software and services based on EcoStruxure™.

In particular, CDUs are scalable from 105kW to a maximum of 2.5MW, and have also received NVIDIA's latest hardware certification, with technology used in six of the world's top 10 supercomputers.

RDHx can cool rack densities up to 75kW, while HDUs can remove 100kW of heat in a 600mm width, satisfying both space efficiency and performance.
