Ranked 1st in market share for 4 consecutive years based on sales in 2016, selected by IDC

VMware (CEO: Pat Gelsinger) has ranked first in market share for the fourth consecutive year in the worldwide cloud system management and automation software sectors based on revenue in 2016, according to global IT market analysis firm IDC.

According to IDC's Worldwide Cloud Systems Management Software Market Shares, 2016: Year of Monitoring and Analytics Growth report, VMware ranked first in the segment with 21.2% market share. IDC evaluated VMware's efforts to continuously provide an integrated approach to cloud management monitoring, analytics, and automation to meet consumer demands for management solutions suitable for multi-cloud environments.

VMware also made a splash in the data center automation software space. According to the report, 'Worldwide Workload Scheduling and Automation Software Market Shares, 2016: Vendors Pivot to DevOps', VMware leads the market with a 15% share. VMware has been showcasing its evolved automation portfolio through a series of new product launches in 2016. IDC predicts that enterprise customers will continue to value automation capabilities that improve end-to-end service levels through efficient IT operations and optimized infrastructure resource utilization.
